Seems so simple. Making waffles. I have to admit that I haven't made waffles for at least five years.
So many excuses. Too messy. Too many calories. Too much time. But bottom line? Too much trouble to make waffles just for myself.
This morning, I made waffles. For myself.
One thing my Mom taught me about being a widow: You are worth the trouble. Every evening, she cooked a delicious dinner for herself. She set her place at the kitchen table with a placemat, her best dishes, her favorite glass, and her best flatware.
Challenge for today: Do something nice for yourself. Something you haven't done for a long time. Something you enjoy.
Remember this: You are worth being nice to. Be nice to you.
“For the Lord our God is our sun and our shield. He gives us grace and glory. The Lord will withhold no good thing from those who do what is right. O Lord of Heaven’s Armies, what joy for those who trust in you” (Psalm 84:11-12).
Laura Warfel is a widow, writer, and follower of Jesus Christ. Her greatest joy is to bring others along with her on her faith journey. In 2015, because of the encouragement of the Launch Out Conference and Jon Acuff, she launched More Than A Widow on Facebook and Twitter. Today she blogs, tweets, and posts to help widows (and those who know them) find encouragement, hope, and resources for the journey. Her goal is to help all widows live beyond the label and live as more than a widow.
